I spend the first days of the year in a very rural house of a friend in the forest of Belgium. We walked along the river ‘De Schelde’ and I was mesmerised by the mysterious beauty of the mist and fog. Since we are living in very strange times I decided to leave the blue skies and turn the painting more grey. As I want to make my surreal world more realistic I had a good look at one of my favourite artists: Frank Frazetta and combined it with a good look at Monet’s ‘Water Lilies’. And then I did my own thing. Very happy with the first painting of the year.
